Legitimate Networking and the Perya of Filipinos

You cannot call yourself a Filipino at heart if you haven't tried to play or even visit a "perya" which usually comes every Christmas season. These perya have mini games where you can use your coins to play and earn prizes such as money or household materials such as a plate or a glass. In these games you just have to throw a one-peso coin and if that coin landed in the middle of small squares then that means you won a prize. Usually, smaller boxes has higher prize.

These perya also have games where you will bet on which color will the boxes show. If you cannot imagine that just see the picture below.

In this game, if you bet PHP 20 on green and one of the boxes shows green the facilitator or the "Kuya" will have to give you the same amount but if you lose, the kuya will get your money and you have to bet again.

Also, one of the things that you can do with one peso is to guess what number will show when a piece of paper is submerged in water. We commonly see this game during fiestas since kids tend to have more money because of their relatives visiting them. If you were able to guess the hidden number on that piece of paper, you will get a chick. Filipinos call it sisiw, which you can feed and grow until it become a chicken. After that, Filipinos tend to cook these chickens in their desired recipe.

You can find a lot of interesting games in peryas and for sure if you have a of money you will never be bored in that place. Perya is a combination of exciting rides, mini games and a lot of food stalls where you can try different food from the chicken's intestine to squid's tentacles.
