Marikina Shoes for SONA 2015, Officials Urged

Marikina City Mayor Del De Guzman urged the government officials who will be attending the 2015 State of the Nation Address to wear locally-made shoes from Marikina City. They also launched the campaign #iWearMarikina to encourage the people to use shoes made in Marikina.

“It’s a great help in revitalizing the local shoe industry where thousands of our residents depend as means of livelihood,” De Guzman said.

Marikina City is known to be the shoe capital of the Philippines. It is because shoes made in Marikina is best in quality, durability and design. Currently, Marikina holds the title of having the biggest pair of shoes which is displayed in Riverbanks Center.

“This simple act will go a long way in helping our local shoe industry get back on its feet,” the mayor added.

The Marikina City Government also launched an online shop for leather and genuine Marikina-made shoes. marikinashoes.theshop.ph
